Betting Rules

How bets are accepted, settled, voided and paid at the ZABET1 sportsbook — the general rules that apply to every bet, followed by the rules specific to each sport.

Last updated: 6 October 2026

Where these general rules and the market-specific rules shown on the bet slip differ, the market-specific rules take precedence. Always read the rule text attached to a market before placing a bet on it.

1. Scope and precedence

These rules govern every bet placed on the ZABET1 sportsbook, unless a particular market states otherwise. Where a market carries its own rule text, that text applies to that market and overrides anything written here.

Where these rules are silent on a situation, the matter is settled according to accepted international betting practice and the official rules of the relevant governing body, applied consistently to every bet placed on that market. These rules sit alongside the site's Terms and Conditions, which continue to apply in full.

Times and dates

Scheduled start times shown on the site are for guidance. A match starting earlier or later than the time displayed does not, by itself, make a bet void, provided the match is played on the scheduled day and at the scheduled venue. All times and dates used for settlement are those of the official source for that competition.

2. Bet acceptance and confirmation

A bet exists only once it has been accepted by our system and a confirmation has been returned to you, with a bet reference visible in your bet history. Submitting a bet slip is a request, not a contract.

A bet that is not confirmed does not stand. This includes bets lost to a dropped connection, a browser or app closing mid-submission, a timeout, or a price that moved or was suspended between your submission and our processing. If you are unsure whether a bet went through, check your bet history before placing it again — placing it twice may leave you with two live bets.

We may decline a bet, or accept it for a lower stake than requested, without giving a reason. Where a bet is accepted for a reduced stake, only the accepted portion stands and the remainder is returned.

3. Settlement

Bets are settled on the official result at the conclusion of regulation or scheduled play, as defined by the competition's governing body, unless the market states otherwise. Unless a market explicitly says that extra time, overtime, penalty shoot-outs, super overs or equivalent tie-breakers are included, they are excluded.

Settlement is made using the official result available to us at the time of settlement. Where an official result is not published, we settle using the most reliable independent record of the event.

Later changes to a result

Once bets have been settled, a subsequent change to the result by a governing body — an appeal upheld, a disqualification, a points deduction, a match awarded to the other side, a doping decision — does not normally change our settlement. The result that stood at the conclusion of the event is the result we pay on.

The exception is a settlement error on our part. Where a bet has been settled against the wrong result, whether that produced an overpayment or an underpayment, we will correct the settlement and adjust the account accordingly.

4. Void bets and returns

A void bet is treated as though it had not been placed: the stake is returned in full, and there is no profit or loss. A bet may be voided where, among other things:

  • the event or market is not completed, and no rule provides for settlement of the incomplete market;
  • a competitor, team or selection does not start, withdraws before the start, or is replaced;
  • the event is played at a different venue or under a materially different format from the one advertised, where that difference affects the market;
  • an obvious pricing, entry or handicap error affected the market (see section 5);
  • the market was left open, or was reopened, after the event or the relevant occurrence had already begun or been decided;
  • both parties to a two-way market are the same selection, or the market is otherwise incapable of settlement as offered;
  • the bet breached a rule, a stake limit or a restriction that applies to your account.

A void bet returns the stake only. It never returns the potential winnings.

5. Palpable errors and system problems

A palpable error is an obvious mistake in a price, a line, a handicap or a market — a price quoted at odds materially different from the true market price, a handicap entered with the wrong sign, teams listed the wrong way round, or a market offered on an event that has already finished.

We reserve the right to void bets struck at materially wrong odds or on materially wrong terms, whether the error was ours, a data provider's, or the result of a technical fault. Where practical we may instead settle the bet at the correct price that would have applied at the time it was placed.

The same applies to bets placed during a system malfunction, a data feed failure or a delayed feed, and to any bet placed after the outcome concerned was already known. Deliberately exploiting an error, a delayed feed or a technical fault is a breach of the Terms and Conditions and may result in the forfeiture of the bets involved.

6. Dead heats

A dead heat occurs when two or more selections finish level in a position that a market treats as a single winning place — a tied finish, joint top scorers, or more selections placed than the market allowed for.

In a dead heat the odds are not reduced. The stake is reduced, in proportion to how many selections share the place:

reduced stake = stake × (number of winners the market expected ÷ number of actual winners)

The reduced stake is then settled at the full odds of the bet. The remainder of the stake is lost.

Worked example

You stake R100 at odds of 4.00 on a player to be the outright top scorer of a tournament. Three players finish level on the same number of goals. The market expected one winner; there are three actual winners.

  • Reduced stake = 100 × (1 ÷ 3) = R33.33
  • Return on the reduced stake = 33.33 × 4.00 = R133.33
  • The remaining R66.67 of the stake is lost
  • Net result on a R100 bet: a return of R133.33, a profit of R33.33

A dead-heat leg inside a multiple is settled the same way, and the reduced return is carried into the remaining legs.

7. Postponed, abandoned and rescheduled events

If an event is postponed or abandoned before it is completed, bets on markets that have not been determined are void and stakes are returned, unless the event is resumed and completed within the window stated for that sport — commonly 48 hours from the original scheduled start, unless the market or the sport section below says otherwise.

Markets already unconditionally determined at the moment play stopped stand. If you backed the first team to score and that goal had already been scored, the bet is settled as a winner even though the match was later abandoned. If you backed the correct score, the market was not determined and the bet is void.

An event moved to a different day, a different venue, or behind closed doors when spectators were expected, is treated according to the rules of the sport concerned; in most cases a move to a different venue voids the affected markets, while a change of day within the stated window does not.

8. Multiples and accumulators

A multiple combines two or more selections; every leg must win for the bet to win. The return is the stake multiplied by the product of the odds of all legs.

Where a leg of a multiple is void, that leg is settled at odds of 1.00 and the multiple continues with the remaining legs. It does not void the whole bet. A four-fold with one voided leg becomes, in effect, a treble on the same stake.

Selections that are dependent on one another — related contingencies, such as a team to win and the same team's player to score in the same match — may not be combinable, and if such a combination is accepted in error it may be voided or settled at revised terms.

Quarter-line Asian handicaps in a multiple

A quarter line (for example −0.25, +0.75, −1.25) splits the stake evenly across the two nearest half or whole lines. That produces four possible outcomes: win, half win, half lose, lose.

In a multiple, a half-win leg is carried forward at the effective odds of that half win, not at the full quoted odds. A leg at 2.00 that lands as a half win is carried into the multiple at 1.50, because half the stake was returned at evens and half was returned as stake. A half-lose leg is carried forward at 0.50 — half the stake survives to the next leg — and a full lose ends the multiple.

9. Outrights and ante-post

An outright or ante-post bet is a bet on the winner of a competition, or on a competition-long market, placed before or during the competition.

There are no refunds for non-runners. If the competitor, team or player you backed does not take part, withdraws, is injured, is disqualified, is transferred, or is eliminated for any reason before or during the competition, the bet stands and is settled as a loser. Prices for these markets are calculated on the basis that all listed participants may or may not take part.

Outright bets are void only if the competition itself is abandoned without a winner being declared, or is not completed within the same season or calendar year in which it was scheduled to end, unless the market states otherwise.

10. Cash out

Cash out, where offered, lets you settle a bet before the event has finished at a price we quote at that moment.

  • Availability is not guaranteed. It may be withdrawn from a market, from an event, or from a bet at any time and without notice.
  • Prices move continuously. A quote may change or disappear between the moment it is displayed and the moment you accept it, in which case the cash out is not executed.
  • Cash out may be unavailable while a market is suspended, during a delayed or interrupted data feed, or where part of a multiple is not eligible.
  • A cash out that completes at the offered price is final. It cannot be reversed, and the outcome of the event afterwards does not change what you were paid.
  • Where a cash out is executed at an obviously wrong price, or as the result of a technical fault, section 5 applies and the cash out may be voided, restoring the original bet.

11. Irregularities and integrity

We may withhold settlement of a bet, suspend a payout, or suspend an account while we investigate where there is reasonable suspicion of match-fixing, manipulation of an event, the use of inside information, betting on an event whose outcome was already known, collusion between accounts, the use of automated tools, or any other conduct that undermines the integrity of the market.

Where an investigation is opened, we may share relevant information with the governing body, the sport's integrity unit, the licensing authority or law enforcement. If the suspicion is not substantiated, the bet is settled normally. If it is, the bet may be voided and the account dealt with under the Terms and Conditions.

12. Maximum payouts and limits

Maximum stakes and maximum payouts apply, and vary by sport, competition, market and account. The limit applicable to a bet is the one in force at the time the bet was accepted.

Where a bet, or a group of related bets on the same outcome, would return more than the applicable maximum payout, the return is capped at that maximum. This applies however the bet was structured, including across multiple bet slips placed on the same selection.

We may limit the stake available to an account, restrict particular markets, or decline bets, without giving a reason.

13. Settlement outcomes explained

Outcome What it means What you receive
Win The selection was correct in full Stake × odds
Lose The selection was incorrect Nothing; the stake is lost
Void / Push The bet is treated as never placed, or the handicap landed exactly on the line Stake returned in full
Half Win Quarter line: one half won, the other half pushed Half the stake at full odds, plus the other half of the stake back
Half Lose Quarter line: one half lost, the other half pushed Half the stake returned; the other half is lost

14. Sport-specific rules

The rules below add to, and where they conflict override, the general rules above. They are in turn overridden by the rule text shown on an individual market.

Football (Soccer)

  • All markets are settled on 90 minutes plus the stoppage time added by the referee, unless the market states otherwise.
  • Extra time, golden goal and penalty shoot-outs are excluded unless the market explicitly says it includes them (for example "To Lift the Trophy" or "To Qualify").
  • Own goals count towards team totals but not towards a named player's goalscorer market.
  • Goalscorer bets are void if the named player takes no part in the match. If the player comes on after a goal has been scored, "First Goalscorer" bets on that player are void; "Anytime" and "Last" bets stand.
  • Card and corner markets are settled on 90 minutes plus stoppage time. A second yellow leading to a red counts as one yellow plus one red where the market defines it that way; cards shown to non-players or after the final whistle do not count.
  • A match abandoned before 90 minutes voids undetermined markets unless it is replayed and completed within 48 hours of the original scheduled start.

American Football

  • Markets include overtime unless stated otherwise. Quarter, half and full-game markets are settled at the end of the relevant period.
  • Bets stand if the game is completed within 48 hours of the scheduled start, regardless of venue changes forced by weather or safety, unless the market states otherwise.
  • Player performance markets are void if the player takes no active part in the game.
  • A game abandoned before completion voids markets not already determined; markets settled by the point at which play stopped stand.

Basketball

  • Full-game markets, including handicaps and totals, include overtime unless stated otherwise. Quarter and half markets exclude overtime.
  • The game must be completed for markets to stand, unless the outcome was already determined. Where a league's rules define a minimum period of play for an official result, that definition applies.
  • A game postponed or moved to a different day voids undetermined markets unless it is played within 48 hours of the scheduled start.
  • Player points, rebounds and assists markets are void if the player does not appear.

Baseball

  • Full-game markets include extra innings unless stated otherwise.
  • Unless the market states otherwise, a game must go the distance required for an official result under the league's rules for markets to stand; a game called short is settled on the official score at the point it was called, where the league recognises it as official.
  • Listed-pitcher markets are void if a named starting pitcher does not throw the first pitch of the game for their side. Markets offered as "action" stand regardless of the pitchers used.
  • Doubleheaders and games moved to a neutral park are settled on the specific game identified at the time of the bet.

Tennis

  • If a player retires or is disqualified before the match is completed, match markets are void unless the first set has been completed, in which case bets on markets already determined stand and undetermined markets are void, subject to the market's own rules.
  • A walkover, where a player withdraws before a ball is struck, voids all markets on that match.
  • A change of surface or venue after bets were placed voids affected markets.
  • A match suspended for weather or darkness and resumed later stands, however long the interruption, provided it is completed within the tournament.
  • Games and set totals include tie-breaks; a tie-break counts as one game.

Ice Hockey

  • Unless stated otherwise, match markets are settled on regulation time (60 minutes) and exclude overtime and shoot-outs. Markets explicitly labelled "including overtime" include both.
  • Where a shoot-out decides a game in a market that includes overtime, the shoot-out winner is credited with one additional goal for settlement.
  • A game abandoned before 60 minutes voids undetermined markets unless it is completed within 48 hours.
  • Period markets are settled on that period only.

Cricket

  • Where a result is decided by a revised target under a recognised rain method, that official result stands for match markets.
  • Limited-overs markets on totals, individual scores and partnerships are void if the innings concerned is shortened after the bet was placed, unless the outcome was already determined.
  • Super overs count for match result markets only. They do not count towards runs, wickets or any other statistical market.
  • A match declared a tie with no super over settles the match result market as a void where no draw price was offered; where a draw price was offered, it is settled as a draw.
  • Top batter and top bowler markets require the named player to be in the starting eleven; otherwise those bets are void.

Rugby Union and Rugby League

  • All markets are settled on 80 minutes plus the stoppage time allowed by the referee, unless the market states otherwise.
  • Extra time, golden point and any kicking competition are excluded unless the market explicitly says it includes them (for example "To Lift the Trophy" or "To Qualify").
  • Try-scorer bets are void if the named player takes no part in the match. A penalty try is not credited to any named player.
  • A match abandoned before 80 minutes voids undetermined markets unless it is replayed and completed within 48 hours of the original scheduled start.

Boxing and MMA

  • A bout is deemed to have started at the opening bell of the first round. Bets are void if the bout does not start, if either named fighter is replaced, or if the scheduled number of rounds changes after the bet was placed.
  • Method-of-victory markets treat a technical knockout, a corner retirement and a disqualification-free stoppage as a knockout unless the market defines them separately.
  • A technical decision, where a bout goes to the scorecards after an accidental foul, settles the winner market on the official decision.
  • Round markets are settled on the round in which the official stoppage occurs. A fighter failing to answer the bell for a round means the stoppage is recorded at the end of the previous round.
  • A change of weight class or a bout ruled a no-contest voids all markets on that bout unless already determined.

Golf

  • Tournament winner markets are settled on the official result including any play-off.
  • A player who has teed off is a runner. Bets on a player who withdraws or is disqualified after teeing off stand and lose; bets on a player who does not tee off at all are void.
  • Two-ball and three-ball markets require all named players to start; if one does not, the market is void.
  • If a tournament is shortened but an official result is declared, bets are settled on that result. If no official result is declared, tournament markets are void.
  • Ties in place markets are settled under the dead heat rule in section 6.

Darts

  • If a match does not start, or a player withdraws before it begins, all markets are void.
  • If a player retires or is disqualified mid-match, undetermined markets are void; markets already determined stand.
  • Totals on 180s and checkouts are settled on the completed match only, and are void if the match is not completed.
  • Handicaps are applied in legs or sets as specified by the market.

Table Tennis

  • The match must be completed for markets to stand, unless the outcome was already determined. A retirement voids undetermined markets.
  • Points and games totals are void if the format advertised at the time of the bet (best of five, best of seven) changes.
  • Handicap markets are settled on the total points or games specified by the market.

Volleyball

  • Markets are settled on the final result including all sets played, including a deciding set.
  • A match that is not completed voids undetermined markets; markets already determined stand.
  • Points handicaps and totals include the deciding set unless the market states otherwise.
  • A change to the number of sets in the advertised format voids affected markets.

Handball

  • Unless stated otherwise, markets are settled on regulation time and exclude extra time and penalty shoot-outs.
  • A match abandoned before regulation time ends voids undetermined markets unless it is completed within 48 hours.
  • Half-time markets are settled on the first half alone.

eSports

  • Markets are settled on the official result published by the tournament organiser.
  • A map remake, restart or replay ordered by the organiser voids markets on that map, unless the market was already determined before the remake was ordered. The match result market stands.
  • A disconnect that leads to a rematch of the map is treated as a remake. A disconnect that leads to a forfeit is settled on the forfeit result as published.
  • If the best-of format changes after the bet was placed — a best-of-three becoming a best-of-five, or the reverse — markets that depend on the number of maps, such as map handicaps, correct scores and totals, are void. The match winner market stands.
  • A change of roster, including a stand-in, does not void bets unless the organiser rules the team ineligible.
  • Where a match is walked over, or a team is disqualified before play, all markets on that match are void.
  • In-game statistical markets are settled on the game client's own final scoreboard for the map concerned.

15. Complaints and dispute resolution

If you believe a bet has been settled incorrectly, contact us with the bet reference and the reason. We will re-check the settlement against the official result and correct it where we are wrong.

If that does not resolve matters, there is a defined route beyond us, and it is fixed by the conditions of our licence rather than by our own policy. It has three stages.

Stage 1 — raise it with us

Email [email protected] with the bet reference, the date and what you think went wrong. We will acknowledge your complaint within 1 working day and aim to resolve it within 14 days. Those are the deadlines our licence holds us to.

Stage 2 — independent dispute resolution

Where a complaint is not resolved within that period, it escalates to Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR). Two features of this are worth stating plainly, because they are what make it meaningful rather than decorative:

  • It is mandatory and binding. We cannot decline to take part, and we cannot reject the outcome because it went against us. A decision binds the operator.
  • It costs you nothing. All costs of the ADR process are borne by the operator. They are never charged to you, never deducted from your balance, and never set off against anything you are awarded. A dispute process you cannot afford to use is not a dispute process, which is precisely why the licence puts the cost on us.

Stage 3 — the regulator

You can also take a complaint to our regulator at any point. ZABET1 is operated by U2IS Limited (registration number 16249, Hamchako, Mutsamudu, Autonomous Island of Anjouan, Union of Comoros) under gaming licence ALSI-202601056-FI2, issued under The Betting and Gaming Act 2005 (Government Notice No. 007 of 2005).

The regulator is Anjouan Licensing Services Inc. (Anjouan Gaming), 15619 Hamchako, Mutsamudu, Autonomous Island of Anjouan, Union of Comoros. Complaints can be sent to [email protected]. For a concern about responsible gambling rather than a settlement, their contact is [email protected].

Bring us the bet reference first. Almost every settlement dispute is resolved at stage 1, usually because one side is reading a different market rule from the other, and going straight to stage 3 only adds weeks before anyone has looked at the actual bet.
